Campaign Mention in "Variety"

BR.C members should be proud of their efforts for the "Bring Routh Back" campaign as news of it has made waves in Variety. Both BR.C and BlueTights were mentioned in the article.

"On August 26th of this year, a small group of Superman/Brandon Routh fans at Brandon Routh.com and BlueTights Network, one of the most renowned Superman sites in the world, started the campaign to express our dissatisfaction of WB's alleged 'new strategy' and to demand them to recast Brandon Routh as Superman in the future film again. Clairecheaux, one of the most respected members of the forum, has named this as the: "BRB! - Bring Routh Back!" campaign."

WB president Jeff Robinov spoke to the Wall Street Journal about rebooting the Superman franchise and reintroducing Superman to the public.

"Warner Bros. also put on hold plans for another movie starring multiple superheroes -- known as "Batman vs. Superman" -- after the $215 million "Superman Returns," which had disappointing box-office returns, didn't please executives. "'Superman' didn't quite work as a film in the way that we wanted it to," says Mr. Robinov. "It didn't position the character the way he needed to be positioned." "Had 'Superman' worked in 2006, we would have had a movie for Christmas of this year or 2009," he adds. "But now the plan is just to reintroduce Superman without regard to a Batman and Superman movie at all."

In my opinion, even though we may not see the returns of Bryan Singer, Kate Bosworth, and Kevin Spacey, the chance of Brandon returning to don the red cape is favorable as the search for Superman was difficult. The next month or so should end any speculation about his involvement.

Brandon on "Lie to Me" and Superman

Brandon recently spoke with Press-Telegram, a Long Beach publication, about his role in the independent drama Lie to Me which premieres at the Newport Beach Film Festival on Saturday and the status of the "Superman Returns" sequel.

On "Lie to Me":

"It's an interesting date movie, maybe even an interesting first date. It puts it all out on the table and raises a lot of interesting subjects for people - things that are really important and what people my age are going through. Mainly, am I ready to commit to one person?"

On the SR sequel:

"Bryan was very open to communicating about the character and was very collaborative with me. We talked endlessly about the character and what he's going through. On set, we were on the same playing field. He's a genius and it's exciting to see him work. I think (`Superman Returns') is a beautiful film. I'm really, really proud of it and very excited to continue."

LTM director John Stewart Muller has provided br.c a PDF file from "944 Magazine" in which Brandon discusses LTM. View it in the gallery.
